I think that error is related to .NET Framework but can be generic.

Open a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Retry Windows Updates and if still problems, in the admin command prompt enter sfc /scannow

If that reports it is unable to repair some files then enter findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt (you may be able to copy & paste that to the cmd prompt)

This will put an icon onto the Desktop which when double clicked will open the CBS Log in Notepad which you can then copy & paste into the reply box.

What did the dism command report and did you run a sfc /scannow ?

The findstr /c:"[SR]" command is only to make reading the CBS Log easier should a sfc /scannow report it is unable to repair some files - it doesn't fix anything.

I used to have a fix cmd for renaming the pending file to pending.old which will stop that - give me a few mins to dig it out.

If you can get back into the admin cmd prompt - enter dism /image:c:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

I think renaming the pending bit was for Win 7 - been a while since I've advised it.

If that has resolved the pending error then retry the /restorehealth cmd again to see what that reports.

Did the dism /restorehealth cmd not report anything ?

Retry the sfc /scannow cmd to see what that reports.

If it reports that it is unable to repair some files then enter that findstr cmd and post the CBS Log.

These commands from an admin cmd prompt are a general WU fix but see what the sfc /scannow reports first.

    net stop wuauserv

    net stop cryptSvc

    net stop bits

    net stop msiserver

    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old

    net start wuauserv

    net start cryptSvc

    net start bits

    net start msiserver

Enter exit to close the cmd window then reboot and retry the WUs.

I'm going to have to shoot off for a while but will be back later.
