    A strange Thunderbird popup

I have windows 7 and run Thunderbird 38.1.0.
I have 3 Hotmail and 1 Outlook IMAP accounts.

Recently when it checks incoming emails, particularly on one Hotmail account below popup comes up.

    "Thunderbird

The current operation on "Inbox" did not succeed. The mail server for account xxxxxxx@hotmail.co.uk responded: (OVERQUOTA)The mailbox does not have enough space remaining to complete this operation."

Could someone tell me what is this all about please?
    Thank you.

    Any suggestions please?

BTW, I logged on to my account, using a browser and deleted a lot of old emails. Unfortunately it didn't help.

I just can not work out how to check my quota in Hotmail....any idea how please?

Deleting mail usually puts it in the Trash. You need to empty the trash to reclaim the space.

    cheers, Paul

I managed to have a chat support by Microsoft. Apparently they are in the process of migrating Hotmail accounts to "Outlook". it is taking time. She wasn't able to tell me when it would return to normal but assured me that it would be soon ??????? I hope so.......I am sorry to take your time. Thank you.

OP's #2 post says nothing about emptying trash. OK to delete messages but until trash is emptied the messages remain on server, just in trash (or "deleted items") folder.

    Absolutely nothing in the Trash.

As I said I can log into my account and read and write emails form my browser (Chrome). But Thunderbird in my laptop will give this "The current operation on "Inbox" did not succeed. The mail server for account xxxxxxx@hotmail.co.uk responded: (OVERQUOTA)The mailbox does not have enough space remaining to complete this operation." error.

I have Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, using Maildroid, also not reading or downloading my messages in this particular mail address either.

I made an account of this particular mail address in Google Mail app. It works perfect without any problem.

    Strange...very strange....Thank you.

I am sure I would have got some suggestions by now if anyone could.

As I said above, I made an account of this particular mail address in Google Mail app. It works perfect without any problem.
    Which uses....
    Incoming Server Settings:
    dub406-m.hotmail.com
    Port
    443

On the other hand Thunderbird uses Incoming Server Settings as:
    imap-mail.outlook.com
Port 993......................................which does not work at all.

I wonder why Gmail is using different settings?
