Windows 10 Rollout: A Random Process?

It would be interesting to know just how Microsft is rolling out Windows 10 to those who "reserved" it. My neighbour had his Windows 7 Pro system seamlessly updated without any trouble in the small hours of 29 July here in South Africa. My own two Windows 8.1 Pro desktops are still waiting (they have both been declared "compatible"). A friend in another part of the country is still waiting for his Win 7 Pro system to be upgraded. Weird!
(My Setup: Custom built: 4.00GHz Intel Core i7-6700K CPU; MSI Z170A Gaming Carbon Motherboard (Military Class III); Win 10 Pro (64 bit)-(UEFI-booted); 16GB RAM; 512GB SAMSUNG SD850 PRO SSD; 120GB SAMSUNG 840 SSD; Seagate 2TB Barracuda SATA6G HDD; 2 X GeForceGTX 1070 8GB Graphics Card (SLI); Office 2013 Prof (32-bit); MS Project 2013 (32-bit); Acronis TI 2017 Premium, Norton Internet Security, VMWare Workstation12 Pro). WD My Book 3 1TB USB External Backup Drive). Samsung 24" Curved HD Monitor.

On both my Win 7 laptops the system tray icon has vanished and I'm still waiting for the update in the UK.

I'm not at all sure I want to know just how M$ is "rolling out" Win10. Have checked out Win10 Tech Preview - impressive but some problems remain 30JUL15, so stand on previous decision to hold off upgrading for at least three months.
