    INCLUDE an external page (2000)

i haven't tested with FP2002, but what I would like to accomplish is an include of a page that exists only on my web host's FTP server. I'm using <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.blogger.com>Blogger</A> to maintain an easy method of posting news to the homepage. When I work with FrontPage, though, the message I get is that "The include component only works with pages in the current web."

Well, that's great and all, but since Blogger FTPs the template to the server directly, it isn't on my development box. And it seems that FrontPage also doesn't do standard INCLUDE statements. There is no documentation on the "bot" that is inserted into the HTML code that I can find.

Workarounds, alternatives? Besides learning something like GoLive or another editor?? Sheesh!

Nope you'll have to add the HTML for the include statement manually.
The closest FP comes to includes are it's shared borders.

Re: INCLUDE an external page (2000)

I recall trying this once before and FP flopped on it. This was using an internally addressed webserver on the LAN, not over the public Internet - the conditions were the same though, Windows 2000 Server, IIS 5, and FrontPage 2000 extensions.

Was it a bugaboo in my first setup that is making me leery, and FrontPage will actually do a normal, Apache-style include? I don't mind adding the code - I confess I haven't tried this time around. Once bitten, twice shy! <img src=/S/flee.gif border=0 alt=flee width=25 height=25>
