    Cortana ADHD?

    Hey Y'all,

Ok here's an interesting development, at least I think so.

Typed in this search on my Win 10 Home Laptop w/Local Account:

Then tried the same thing with (typing) Win 10 Pro Laptop w/MS Account & Cortana:

Did you click on My Stuff in the Cortana snapshot? Personally I think Cortana is a useless gimmick and I have it disabled.

Looks like you typed two different things: "Create a rec" and "Create a recov".

    B.M.,

Yes, I gave Cortana some extra help to no avail! Contana won't find it if you spell recovery all the way out either!

I'm pretty much of the same opinion but this is on my TEST machine and I thought I should have a MS Account so I could try Cortana out. I've setup my traveling Laptop with a Local account with all that implies.

Maybe I'm just denser that normal right now but what were you trying to find? You do have to give Cortana some time to learn about your tastes and interests.

    Joe,

I was looking for the "Create Recovery Drive" as shown in the first graphic.

    Clicking on My Stuff yields:
    MyStuff.JPG

    Then selecting Settings yields:
    settings.JPG

Perhaps you have the Cortana settings different on the devices? On my Surface Pro 3 I just typed in "create a rec" and "Create a recovery drive" was at the top.

I've been using Cortana on my Windows phone for months, and the longer one uses Cortana, the better it gets at figuring out what you're looking for. I use Cortana for voice dial on my phone, driving directions, etc. I have Cortana enabled on my laptop, and since it's the same MS account, Cortana pretty much knows my habits.

But it does take time for it to build up a database personalized for you. If you continue to use it, it will get much better at anticipating your intentions. In this linked post, check the last paragraph.
