    New PC, with offer to download Windows 10 immediately, what to do?

    The title says most of it: I bought a new PC, to use for work activities. When I wanted to update the Windows 8.1 Pro version, I got an offer to download Windows 10 instead. What is the best thing to do: download it, and start using the newest version, or start with Windows 8.1 first. My old work PC is using Windows 7, I have used Windows 8.1 a bit, but not for production.
    The machine has a touchscreen.

    Any advice, ideas?

    If the PC is already Win8.1 Pro then the Win10 upgrade will get you Win10 Pro free. If it is not Win8.1 Pro and you want Win10 Pro then upgrade to Win8.1 first.

    I'd upgrade to Win10 and only install 8.1 Pro as a stepping stone to Win10 Pro.

    I think I would hang slack on Win 10 until at least it has had its first update which seems to be in the offering.

    That's what I'm going to do before I upgrade my Win 7 again.

    You could always upgrade your Win 7 machine if it's compatible after creating a full system image, but you have 30 days to roll back.

    @Sudo15

    It is a new PC and not totally clear what OS came on it. I read that it came with 8.1 Pro and the OP was just going to run WU on it. If this is true then I'd advocate going straight to Win10 before the new PC is loaded with "stuff".

    There's that I suppose but I was wondering if his Win 7 works stuff would be Win 10 compatible and try it out on Win 8.1 first.

    Win 10 still isn't the finished product for some going by the threads.
