    print selection w/ pages (200)

When I print just a selection from a long document, the page numbers in the footer start at 1 instead of the correct page #. Is there an easy way to get this to print correctly?

    Thanks!

Re: print selection w/ pages (200)

    Hi Randy:
In Word 2000, when I print a selection, there are no page numbers in the header/fooer, even though a page field is there. Since you're printing a selection, rather than certain pages, I don't think Word can determine what "page" the selection is on. Normally, when you print, Word paginates the document at that time. Here, if you start in the middle of a page with your selection, Word starts this at the top of a printed page, so the two don't really correspond.

I would recommend instead of "print selection", to identify the page numbers or the section, then choose "print range" if you want your output to have the page numbering. The syntax is detailed in Word help -- search for Print Range.
