IE 6 and Office XP and Windoze 2000 (IE 6)

I finally expect to purchase Office XP this week.
I will be installing in a brand new Win 2000 bootable system.

Which version of IE should I install BEFORE I install Office XP?
Which version of IE should I install AFTER I install Office XP?

I've seen so many bad comments about IE 6, I don't what to do.

I haven't had any problems at all with IE 6, but I don't run XP yet. I'm still using Office 2000 and Win2000.

Installing Office XP will include an install of IE6.

It is my understanding that installing Office XP installs some version of IE 5, not IE 6.

    Hi:
I first install Win XP PRO on my system (clean install) then downloaded IE 6.0 from MS update site.

    it's all been working great!

    I asked about Win 2000.
Win XP was developed AFTER IE 6.

Win 2000 and Office XP were pre-IE 6.

You are correct, Howard. I upgraded to W2K, and then to O2K, and am still running IE 5.5.

main issue I am aware of with upgrading IE past 5.5 SP1 is dropping of support for Netscape Style plugins - if you are using software that depends on these type plugins - you may want to seriously investigate how you perform those functions under 5.5 SP2 or 6.0, prior to any upgrading.

Quick Time would be a good example (it has already been modified to work with 5.5 SP2 and 6.0, though), there are a wide variety of them (used to bring some added capability to the browser), for example I use one with a Boeing web site, which allows me to view their drawings online, called Prizm, which site is unuseable without the plugin (translation - if I want the info they have, I can't get it with 5.5SP2 or 6.0), (also means I can't access their info from WinXP, unless I install Netscape 4.08 on XP - talk about a step back, Netscape 6 drops plugin support too)
