    Streaming from International to US

Since US coverage of next month's Rugby World Cup is poor, I plan to use proxy or smart DNS or VPN to access a decent international broadcaster [incl Canada]. Earlier this year I used OverPlay for the 6 Nations Championship, which worked fine, so that's my default if nothing better shows up.

I'm not familiar with this topic, but from reading around I think my best choice is a smart DNS kind of service, rather than the other two--DNS gives a direct connection with the broadcaster, avoiding the 'middle-man'. I don't need encryption or anonymity or other security, just that my IP appears to be coming from a country with full streaming of all the games [ie most English language countries]. I will only use it for accessing sporting events which are poorly served in the US, or not available on our TV plan.

I'm looking for advice from those of you familiar with such services please. Am I right in preferring a DNS solution? OverPlay was simple to setup and use, which suits my novice skill level.

Has anyone used IPHiderPro? They have a lifetime offer for $60, which is a great deal if the service is good. The domain and website were created 2 years ago, and the registrant is in New York, so just maybe they'll stay in business for a while longer. No red flags in a few reviews I read. The site News page indicates the first version was 2011, with regular updates from 2013-2015. I like I can setup one browser for IP relocation, and leave other browsers untouched.

I'll be streaming to a Win7 PC, if that's relevant, and can use any W7 browser.

    Thanks, Mike.

For anyone interested, I took a shot on this one, and it's been working great. Simple setup, simple usage, and I set it to only function with Opera. So I browse as normal with other browsers, and launch IPHiderPro and Opera to watch the games, after the event, due to big time zone differences.

ETA I had a few mild instances of stuttering video, and one bad instance, so now I let the video 'play' completely before restarting it for viewing. Just have to avoid the BBC website for a few extra hours so I don't learn the score

I don't know if the stuttering is due to IPHiderPro or the heavy load on the ITV channel.

Get A PureVPN 5-year Subscription For Just $69 until 2015-11-14.

Fyi. The page says "lifetime", which is defined somewhere [ToS iirc] as 5 years. Nice deal if you need paid VPN and don't fancy IPHiderPro I mentioned earlier--PureVPN is one of the big names in VPN with generally a good rep.

As I write, the buy link says the offer ends in 3 days.

IPHiderPro worked fine for me all thru the RWC, which ended October 31. I continued to let it play thru fully, and then restart later for a stutter-free experience.

I was looking for a new VPN provider a few months ago, but was put off Pure VPN by bad reviews.
