Virtual Clone Drive by Elaborate Bytes

I checked out a HP Pavilion DV6 Win7 SP1 x64 laptop this morning and there is a Virtual Clone Drive by Elaborate Bytes listed in Programs and Features. The owner doesn't use it but I'm interested in knowing how to use it if it could benefit her. Advice appreciated.

If you turn installation software as an example, into ISO files it's a simple matter of directly loading the ISO into a virtual DVD drive from just about anywhere it happens to be stored and using it just like a physical DVD has been inserted.

Virtual Clone Drive is software that emulates one or more virtual DVD drives.

It is used to mount isos. If she does not use it dump it. It is one of those programs that is valuable if you need it but a deepish grasp on the os which can cause problems.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

Sometimes those virtual CD/DVD drivers lead to complications leading to 'random' BSODs; avoid them if you can, and other 'utilities' other than security-related, that load their own low-level drivers.

Thanks everyone. I more than appreciate your inputs: I'll recommend it gets uninstalled.
