Windows Not Remembering Recently Used Files

    Win7 SP1 64-bit (recently updated from 32-bit, clean install)
    MS Office 2010

Until the update to 64-bit, Windows populated the Start Menu's Recent Item and MS Office links properly. Now, despite having created and opened several files in both Word and Excel, these file links do not show up in the appropriate folder. I don't know if it's connected to this issue but the Recent Places folder isn't being populated either. So far, after about a month of computing, all of these folders remain empty.

What's going on and how do I solve it?

    Cheers

Right-click any blank space on the Taskbar and select Properties. Select the Start Menu tab and then click the Customize... button. Down at the bottom are two settings:

Number of recent programs to display:
Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists:

Also double-check and make sure you don't have something like CCleaner setup to automatically clean out your recently used lists.

    Thumbs up

    Perfect, that was the solution.

    Thanks.
