Kapersky is using 696.2 GB of my memory.

My C drive has been filling up recently and I wasn't sure why. Read a post here somewhere and tried Treesize. Its showing that Kapersky has utilized over 690 GB of memory. It shows 990 files ranging from nearly 150 GB to less than 1 GB. Any guesses whats going on?

It's really not using that much memory or as it is known RAM/Random Access Memory and it will be quite a while before consumer computers will have that much on them, most is usually 4GB to 16GB. What you are seeing is the amount of Storage of files on the HDD/Hard Disk Drive. There probably is a place in Kaspersky's settings to lessen that amount. Look at the range of dates of those files, some may date back to when the program was first installed. The use of the same terms for RAM and Storage can get things confused.

So they turned out to be .log files. In order to stop them from piling up stop the "enable traces" under support tools in the kapersky app. In order to delete them, you need to turn off the application's self defence feature. Here's the link to the support forum http://support.kaspersky.com/11266#block1. Pretty easy once you find it.

Paul T's reply looks out of order here, it's because the current post #3 was stuck in Moderation until now.

Dontcha just love multi-gigabyte "log" files?!

    Ditto on the moderated post.
