Bringing back the Win 7 Start Menu

Is it possible to do anything with the left side of the Win 10 Start Menu, to customize it as in Win 7 so that it's more useful than just a lot of blank space with a mystery program at the top, with useless space hogging tiles to the right?

Does anyone have any experience with the "Start Menu 8" utility on download.com?

    Thanks in advance.

Some of the Windows 7 style add-ins which people like here on Windows Secrets Forums are StartIsBack and Classic Shell. I personally prefer StartIsBack, but you have to pay for it (not much). Classic Shell is free.

For Windows 8.x, these programs work very well. And you can configure them to make Windows 8.x look and feel exactly like Windows 7. I'm sure that their Windows 10 versions work equally well.

I would avoid downloading from Cnet. They have a bad reputation. You are likely to get malware if you download from there.
