Windows 8 MAY BE Spying on You

    Re: KB3075249, KB3080149 and KB3068708 (which replaces KB3022345)
You will ONLY see these WinUpdates if your computer is OPTED-IN to share info with MS Customer Experience Improvement Program.

With the latest Windows Update patches, Microsoft has now introduced some of the worst parts of Windows 10 to Windows 7 and 8 users. Check out the following Gordon Kelly news article which includes detailed instructions on how to uninstall and hide the relevant Windows Update patches in Windows 7 and 8.1.

Windows 10 Worst Feature Now Installing On Windows 7 And Windows 8

Update: as per macropod, this only affects those who opted in to MS Customer Experience Improvement Program.
    Sorry for the alarm.

These updates only apply to people who have already agreed to share information with Microsoft, via its Customer Experience Improvement Program. It does not apply to Windows 7 & 8 users at large.

    Woody checked with Microsoft:

    The truth about Windows 7 and 8.1 'spy patches' KB 3068708, 3022345, 3075249, 3080149
The patches are opt-in, easily turned off, and part of a long-established campaign of gathering data under the CEIP

I don't have Windows 8.1 running on either hardware or a virtual machine any more, but in Windows 7 if you use the Start Menu search function to search for CEIP, and click on "Change Customer Experience Program settings" you will get

    Change Customer Experience Program.png

Change it from Yes, I want to participate in the program. to No, I don't want to participate in the program.
