How to stop Window Update from downloading Win 10

I've disabled and hidden the KB's that are supposed to control whether the Win 10 upgrades download or not. I do not have the Win 10 icon in the system tray. However, when I try to run updates for my Win 7 SP 1 system, it starts to download Win 10. I immediately cancel, but then I don't get to install the updates that my system needs.

Any suggestions on how I can stop Win 10 from trying to download and be able to install the updates that I need to? I'm not yet ready to upgrade to Win 10.

    Thanks....................

Sorry - this didn't work. I still get "Downloading Windows 10" whenever I try to download the normal updates are available. This is very frustrating. I can't stop the Win 10 downloads so that I can install my needed regular updates.

Is there any way to install the updates without going through "Windows Update"?

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.
