Upgrade to 8.1 Pro before upgrade to 10?

I am running Windows 8.1 on my machine and am wondering if there is a compelling reason to upgrade to Pro before upgrading to Windows 10? Previously, I was considering it in order to allow postponing Windows Updates, but now I understand you can do that on both the regular and the Pro. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Rae,

Welcome to the Lounge as a new poster!

If you want the Pro of 10 version it's a good idea as you can probably find a Win 8.1 Pro upgrade cheaper than what MS will charge you to Upgrade 10 to pro (currently $99 if memory serves). When you upgrade 8.1 Pro you'll get Win 10 Pro. HTH

Thanks, RetiredGeek. I'm trying to figure out if there is a reason WHY I should want to upgrade to Pro...Thoughts?

    Rae,

IMHO the two main advantages are Group Policy Editor and BitLocker. YMMV HTH
