    SAS-9266-8i Boot Problem

I have a LSI SAS-9266-8i Raid card to build a large raid 6 drive. i got it on ebay so help is hard to find. I can load it on windows 7 Pro with bare drive or no drives. When I set up a RAID 6 with 7-4TB drives it sets up great. I can format it and copy files to it easily. The problem is when I restart the computer it stops after the LSI drive check in pre boot. It locks up there with no keyboard reset. I have to manually shut the computer off. I can disconnect the drives and with the card in the slot my computer reboots.
    My computer is:
Q9650 intel cpu with 8 GB of memory
    EVGA 720 video card
    my C drive is 500GB
I have setup the BIOS to boot to the CD/DVD drive first, the hard drive second a removable drive third(USB) and the Raid card last.
The LSI card has the latest:
    Firmware 2.450.75-4319
    Windows driver 6.708.07.0
    MegaRaid Storage Manager (MSM) 15.05.01.00

I can't help w/ your problem and don't know what your application is but if you are storing data on a Raid backup is still important. Once that 'from ebay card' gets flakey you would likely have to find another exact same card to access your files.

My problem is setting it up. I get it all setup and can copy files to the Raid. The problem is when I reboot Windows 7 Pro it can not get past the LSI hardware check. It is like the computer is looking at the Raid drive to boot from. I have the BIOS look at my Cd first then my "C" drive with windows on it, then a removeable, and last the Raid drive.

Perhaps some one more versed in RAID will chime in here. LSI likely has a forum.

Those cards often have a BIOS addition that allows them to boot. Try disabling the boot option, probably via the MSM software.

    cheers, Paul
