    No CD Key Required

Had build 10525 installed on D drive on my laptop. I used the MediaCreatorTool to download and clean install W10Pro on the D drive. Works like a charm. I also used the MediaCreatorTool to create a W10 USB thumb drive. The clean install never asked for a CD key but after the USB was completed, there was a message telling me to be sure I had a CD key for the USB. I used the "KeyFinder" app and it confirmed the CD key for the clean install. I'm curious as to why the clean install didn't ask for a key but the USB will require a key.

Build 10525 was a Technical Preview release which was automatically activated if it was installed over an activated Build 10240 install. Once you have an activated 10240 build then you can upgrade to a new technical preview and it will be automatically activated regardless of install method. You get the message because MCT has no clue what kind of system the USB drive software will be installed on.
