    wuaueng.dll taking 50% CPU time

so here we go: every single time i make any change on my win7pro box the wuaueng.dll springs into a prolonged action, hogging good 50 % of the cpu, making the box noticeably slow; no update activity is reported afterwards.
call me paranoid, but i would very much like to know what is going on, right or wrong i feel the softies are spying on me, keeping track of any significant activity.

at any rate, whatever might be going on, can i stop it? i have used process explorer to kill it, but it simply starts again as soon as the box is idle. unfortunately i am not sophisticated enough to track the subsequent net communication - if any - to pin the blame.

honestly, i do not expect the 'aliens' will respond. they never did, they do not seem to understand the language of the ordinary plain folks. but the hope is always there ...

Possibly Windows Update trying to do Windows 10 'upgrades'... Check the WindowsUpdate.log file, in C:\Windows.
