    Upgrade to Win 7

    Hi all
I have an old box running XP Pro that I use as back up in case my main PC dies for what ever reason.
    Spec:
    Motherboard:
    CPU Type DualCore Intel Pentium D 840, 3185 MHz (16 x 199)
    Motherboard Chipset VIA P4M800 Pro
    System Memory 1920 MB
    BIOS Type Award (09/01/06)
    150Gb Ide Hard Drive

I'm currently running on my main PC Win 10 pro upgraded from 8.1 which was upgraded from Win 7 Pro. Win 8.1 was dual booted with Win 7 home which was upgraded from XP home, I kept this as dual boot because I couldn't get on with 8.1.
I'm happy with Win10 so I'm thinking to upgrade from XP on the old box to Win7 Home Premium, I have the retail upgrade disc for this, it has NOT been upgraded to Win 10. I also have a spare Sata drive of 500GB I will add. Am I ok to use the Win 7 upgrade on the XP Pro box I think the Mobo etc are up to spec just unsure of whether I'm ok to move the OS to a different M/C.

    Thanks for your help

    Kev

The Win 7 Upgrade Advisor should tell you what you want to know.

Thanks for the link Sudo15 thought that had been removed, looks like the PC is good. just need to know if I can use the upgrade disc. Guess I'll give it a go and see what happens.

You should be okay, but as you say - you will have to see what happens
