    Sit/stand setup for productivity

    Hello there,

This is my first post here: I'm not sure if this (or the hardware one) is the correct forum, so I'm sorry if it isn't but I hope I'll get answers anyhow.

I have a Windows 7 3 monitors desktop setup as shown in the picture below:

I am now going to modernize my equipment, and would like to use the opportunity and try and achieve a setup I''m long dreaming about:

I find I'm sitting too much, hurting both my health and my productivity, and I dream of a "seamless continuity stand-up setup": I'd like to attach a few screens on the facing wall, attach a keyboard and a trackball nearby and be able, whenever I wish, to stand-up, turn towards the back wall, and continue working on the stand-up setup. Then, when I tire, just turn around, sit and again continue working seamlessly.

    Can anyone suggest possible setup?

Get a tall table/desk, one which is the right height for you when you are standing. And get a tall chair, like those used for sitting at a drawing table, one which is the correct height for you to sit down at the table/desk.

In this way, you can either stand or sit while you work.

Thank you. I'm aware of this solution. This, however, has its drawbacks: It's expensive (shipping to Israel) and it requires me to modify my current setup. I'd rather have an "add on" solution, where my sitting setup remains the same - I've really tailored it to my ergonomics - and the stand-up solution is separate.

In much the same vein I have three sets of eyeglasses: For driving, computer and reading. Specialization of tools

If your table/desk could be adjusted to go up or down, you could use a standard chair for sitting.

I don't know how you could accomplish this any other way.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

Thanks. Seems interesting. Only issue - VGA? I have three digital monitors, and none of them are connected through VGA (they are all connected through DVI).

I could, however, live with just the center one mirrored on the wall...

It's an interesting product. I've contacted the company's sales and asked them to respond on this thread here. Let's see if they do.

There are several companies in the US that make sit/stand desks. Have you tried taking around pictures off the web to see if an Israeli company does/can do anything similar? I definitely understand about not wanting to pay shipping half-way around the world. The only company I know of personally is Anthro, because I have one of their desks. But they're on the west coast, so shipping for all that steel and composition stuff is going to be huge. Here's a direct link to their adjustable desks: Anthro desks

This company has a two-monitor setup that I use and really like, but not sure how to handle the third monitor setup you have.
