upgrade 8.1 to 10 with SSD?

    The statement in the newsletter:
For most Win8 users, upgrading is a virtual no-brainer
nearly caused me to try an upgrade from 8.1 to 10. However, I decided to see if my SSD-based system might cause problems. I am using a Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD as my system drive. It was the original drive, not an upgrade from HDD. After looking around, I'm not sure the migration to Windows 10 is low-risk enough. It certainly appears not to be a no-brainer. Among other things, the Samsung Magician software may not support W10. Please advise especially if you have been through this. (BTW, my system is a homebrew from December 2014 and is based on a Gigabyte MB with 8GB RAM. I also have been using Classic Shell.) Thanks in advance for any help on this decision.

I've upgraded using a Kingston SSD, and also using an Intel mSATA SSD. The upgrade process itself worked just fine. I've also upgraded a Seagate HDD (hybrid disk drive) without issue.

I have no experience with Samsung SSD's.

    Arturo,

I can't see anything that software does that you can't accomplish manually so I wouldn't be to worried about it's compatibility. Since you're upgrading you won't need the data migration portion of the software anyway.

Here's Samsung's Page on the software.
