Roxio's DirectCD Kernel
I get this error when I run HP Simple Backup. "the current device is already in use. It is being used by Roxio DirectCD Kernel. Please stop using the device (my HP burner)". I win XP Pro. When I hit ctrl, alt, delete and Applications and Porcesses I dont see anything resembeling directcd, unless it has a different name. Any suggestions how to take disable it for now? Thanks

Re: Roxio's DirectCD Kernel
There is a lot of problems using CD burners under Windows XP. See this thread for more information.
I have this error message too. You have regular CD-ROM drive (or DVD drive) AND CD-RW on your computer installed.
Cause: Roxio DirectCD kernel is built-in service to run CD burners, and it gains full control over it.
Probable solution: During WinXP INSTALLATION, CD-RW drive must be before regular CD-ROM drive in following order: primary master, primary slave, secondary master, secondary slave, SCSI. If your drives are connected in other order (for example, CD-ROM is secondary master and CD-RW is secondary slave), or you install CD-RW on the system already running WinXP, you must reformat your hard drive and reinstall WinXP, connecting CD-RW before CD-ROM.
I will be glad to see another solution, or more information about this problem.
