Question W10 updates to be charged?

I've been told by someone that some tech support people are saying Microsoft will begin charging for updates to W10 after one year from installation.
I seriously doubt this, but want to see if anyone else has heard the same. Or is it a scam perhaps?
    TIA

That's strictly a rumor. Nothing has been officially announced. Windows Security updates will continue to be free but it is possible that added features will incur a cost. No one knows for sure at this point.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

There's a chance that a year from now, MS will roll out plans for a Windows Subscription Service but no one knows for sure. I think that it's probable because it fits well with their goal of software as a service. But as of right now, it's just the normal rumor mill in action.

Office 2016 has changed to a subscription based software only so I would think that the rumor may have some truth to it at some point in time. If MS can force Win 10 on computer user's that don't want it, they can certainly start charging a subscription "Fee" for using it at some point.
    Just a thought.

Wikipedia seems to disagree with saying the retail version was released 22nd September.

And this page says it costs 119.99

There are both one time price and subscription versions of Office.

Lots of stuff written about it...

My "guess" is that apps on the Universal Windows Platform will be subscription-based.

I stand corrected. Evidently I misread the article I saw on the release.
