Blocking an Epson Workforce 845 upgrade

When I "start from scratch" my printer installs and runs fine. But then during one of the "upgrades" a new driver is installed that has eliminated the ability to select printer trays.

I was and am happy with the old driver. How can I, after uninstalling the printer and reinstalling it, block and driver upgrade? I found a Microsoft utility, wushowhide.exe, that is supposed to allow picking and "hiding" drivers etc. from the upgrade process, but it does NOT seem to be working since the printer keeps getting the new driver.

Is there a way to truly block the upgrade? Or, better yet, to go back to the "prehistoric" ability to select upgrades individually during the upgrade process?

    Regards,

See the section "Disable Automatic Download of Drivers from Windows Update" in this How-To Geek article...

I thought I got all those parts, but I'll try once more.

    Thanks,
    Chuck
