Firefox extensions on a Microsoft account

I backed up my local account Firefox setup using Mozbackup. Then I restored that setup to my Microsoft Insider account Firefox. The homepage came over but the extensions did not.

Do Firefox extensions not work with a Microsoft account?

They work fine. As I remember, for every instance of Firefox under a different login, you have to actually re-install the extensions. They do not work automatically. At least, that has been my experience but I am not familiar with the particular Firefox backup tool you use. I use FEBE.

I use FEBE too. But I have run into situations where things did not work as well as I wanted when moving to a new machine (you can't restore to an open profile, for instance, with FEBE, and I didn't want to create another profile) so what I did was use FEBE to install my addons separately by navigating to the external drive I back FireFox up to and reinstalling from there one at a time. Tedious but it works. Just be sure you are restoring the most current backup. I have always loved Cool Previews but CoolIris is no longer supporting it and you can't get it from Mozilla's site any longer. I found though that I could restore it to FireFox and Pale Moon using FEBE and the process I just mentioned. Though not supported, it still works exactly as it used to and in using it now for months I've had no problems with it at all.
