    mass mailing ... sort off (outlook 97/2000)

    hi all,

    I would like to mass mail to all our client ( or potential clients) but on the to field, I would like only to have the destined recipients name only...not the whole list or group.

    is this possible or maybe some have answered this already.....

    thanks

    Heddie,

    You may want to try the Word mail merge feature. Within the data source file you can have a laundry list of email recipients. The end result is a Word document being emailed to individual recipients.

    Place the following code in a module and envoke it to send out individual email messages:

    Sub MyListOfEmailRecipients()
    With Documents("YourWordDocumentHere.doc").MailMerge
    .MailAddressFieldName = "Email" 'Where "Email" = a field or column heading in an XL or Doc file
    .MailSubject = "Your Subject Placed Here"
    .MailAsAttachment = True
    .Destination = wdSendToEmail
    ' .Destination = wdSendToPrinter 'Can print the individual email messages ie document.
    .Execute
    End With
    End Sub

    I'm not sure if there is another way to do what you want but this process does work and is great if you want to customized the Word document.

    A common trick is to create a fake address book entry with a general name (e.g., "Alert List") that points to your own address and use that in the To box. You then put the real addresses in the BCC box. I'm not aware of anything more elegant if you are sending it to everyone as one message.

    thanks J,

    after defining the mail merge fields... worked great. thanks again for the little bit of code. I guess I should really get more involed with VBA.

    cheers,
