    It took 5 hours.

Helping a friend upgrade from Win7 to Win10. What a pain. The upgrade to Win10 icon never showed despite doing several recommendations from a site (can't recall the website but it did have some good info) including editing the registry. Final step was to just download the installer and that finally was the solution but of course it too another hour and 20 for all the updates installation the additional updates to install. Works fine for her, but what a pain. Oh well; know a few things I didn't know before. lol

Plenty of note here about using the Media Creation Tool to do the upgrade, then you know what is going on.

    cheers, Paul

Good article by Paul Thurrott on creating Windows 10 setup media...

Yeah; the Media Creation Tool worked like a charm Paul, but it's misleading in that it can also just plain install the upgrade without creating any media. What was weird too was that a registry setting that suppose to be green (meaning upgrade-able) was set to orange. Also, again, no tray icon. It was like someone installed a do not upgrade program on her PC. Doesn't matter though since the upgrade worked great and her programs still worked afterwards.
