No Network connection - but wait...

I am trying to may map a folder to a drive letter, but when I go to "Map a network drive" my PC isn't showing. The other machine shows, but not mine or the particular share I am seeking. I have tried restarting, but nothing.

That would be aggravating at best, BUT, shares I had already set up for my machine, and the mapping, DO show. I just cannot see my machine to set up any other mapping.

What do I do about this and what could be causing it?

Are you using a workgroup, or HomeGroup?

I would check your Advanced Sharing Settings.

On Home tab in File Explorer, select a folder and then click the "easy Access" drop down. "Map as drive" should be one of the choices.
