Windows 7 update never stops looking for updates and svchost.exe using up almost all my available memory.

Hello! I just installed fresh windows 7 32 bit sp1 and when i check for updates it checks for updates and never stops. It says checking for updates with the green line going back and forth, but never gets any results and svchost.exe using up almost all my available memory. Anyone got any ideas what would the problem be and how to fix it ?

It is normal with a clean install...all the updates for Windows 7 are being downloaded.

For future reference, you can pre-download all of the updates using the freeware tool WSUS Offline Update...

    http://download.wsusoffline.net/

    Good tutorial video...

Have patience, a clean install will find a couple of hundred updates.

Try running Tweaking.com's Windows Repair. Among other fixes, it has a Windows Update Repair tool.

Since there haven't been any errors, it could just take a while...especially if it's a wireless connection.
