    Outlook 2016 reading pane pain

I am trying to make email fit the width of the reading pane on the right side of the screen. Sometimes when I start Outlook it makes the messages fit the width of the pane, and sometimes it doesn't an I have to use the slider on the bottom to see the message. This of course happens when the sender has centered the formatting of the message. Is there a setting where the reading pane will adjust the right margin to the actual size of the reading pane?

This has been an ongoing issue since at least Outlook 2010 (from what I read on the web), but still has not been fixed.

It seems like you are seeing HTML emails. The HTML formatting will cause this. Your only option would be to try reading all email in plain text. Go to File | Options | Trust center |Trust center settings | Email security. Check "read all standard email in plain text".
