Can I chdir to a shortcut from a Command shell?

In a Command shell, a shortcut looks like a file with a .lnk extension. Can I cd (chdir) to this link from the shell?

CHDIR displays the current directory or changes the current folder...

If you are trying to open a shortcut from the Command prompt, use START.

Shortcuts are a pointer to something, usually a program. You can CD to the folder that contains the shortcut, but you can't use the path information from the shortcut with CD on it's own - you would have to extract the path information programatically and pass it to the CD command.

    cheers, Paul
