Anyone have a clue? I downloaded the 64 bit patch. I am running a 64bit desktop, which has Win 10 build 10240 installed. I've goggled this but haven't come accross any hits for windows 10. There are Win 8 hits but none of the possibilities seem to apply.

The November update should be an ISO file.

I'm not clear how you are trying to install it, but the easiest way is to download it using the Media Creation tool, and creating your own setup media...

Since the MCT wasn't mentioned in the first post I assume that you got a WU notice and D/L ed it from there. The message makes me think that the D/L with installer doesn't know what version of win 10 you are running ( Home or Pro ).
In that case I would follow jwoods advice and use the MCT.

Actually I followed the link in this thread: http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...ember-download

I eventually ended up here and used method 2. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3120677

You are on build 10240. November cumulative update 3120677 is for the November update build 10586 version 1511. You need to install the November update to get to build 10586 version 1511 first.

    Jw, hello.

    >>> The November update should be an ISO file. <<<

Not so ! Mine installed via WU. No .iso here at all.

    All best wishes. Jean.

The OP mentioned "downloaded"...so it could have applied to either.

    I took the ISO route.

    Thanks.

That's the trouble with calling something the November update. The one that came after it was merely a November update.

It's a cumulative update. It shouldn't matter what build of Win 10 I have. Also wasn't 10586 the one that was pulled by Microsoft?

I believe that's true before and after 10586. But not from before to after. The update you downloaded is for version 1511 which you don't have yet.

(Let's not call it a Service Pack, or we'd all be able to understand.)

Only for a couple of days, as it turned out.

OK, I went to Microsoft Win 10 site and clicked the big blue free upgrade button. After a few hours I have Version 1511, build 10586.

    Thanks all.

BTW was there any way to Download version 1511, pre 10586?
