    Adobe Flash player gets a new name.

    Got this link from Slashdot. Renaming one of the worst security exploits won't help it of course. lol

    I don't think the player/plug-in is being renamed.

    I think that article is wrong in its assumption; "There’s no explicit mention of what the browser plug-in will be called, but presumably it will mirror the change of name."

    It's the creative tool that's getting renamed, because it's capable of producing more than just Flash:

    So today we are announcing Animate CC, previously Flash Professional CC,
    which will be Adobe’s premier web animation tool for developing HTML5 content
    while continuing to support the creation of Flash content.

    Flash, HTML5 and Open Web Standards

    Flash itself will not be changing, and Adobe is continuing to support it.
    Adobe is telling people to stop using Flash
