    Inbox suddenly cleared

I had a number of messages in my inbox. Had just sent off an email and suddenly the inbox was empty. along with set items etc. I had two email folders, myname@etc and myname1@etc. the one still has all boxes intact, but the other (the one I normally use) is empty. I had backed up my .pst file earlier in the day. So I renamed the .pst file to .pst1, then copied the backed up .pst file to documents\outlook folder. Then when I reopened outlook, the restored .pst file also had nothing in its inbox! When I backed it up, it was fine.\

I am going crazy with this. How can I "fix" the .pst file?

Check your view options to be sure its not set to view unread messages.

It just occurred to me that the fact that the backed up pst file also had nothing in Inbox means that there is some setting which causes the contents of the Inbox not to appear. I'm sure the emails have not been deleted, but that this setting (view or whatever) is causing all this.

Jerry, how do I check the view options to show Inbox contents?

Depends on the version of Outlook you have. Check the options under the view menu. In Outlook 2007 its View > Current View > Unread Messages in this folder.
