    Adblock Plus (OR something else)

Just trying to get a feel of what you would suggest for my Dell Precision Tower 5810 running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.18036

Besides the "pro" of it getting rid of the ads, are there any "cons" that one should also consider?

I don't use IE for a number of reasons.

My current default is Firefox 43.0.1 with uBlock Origin, which I replaced Adblock Plus with a while ago. I was not happy with Adblock Plus' "acceptable ads" policy.

Unfortunately, there is no version of uBlock Origin for IE.

I have no issue with "first-party ads", which originate from the website you visit. It helps keep the lights on.

It's "third-party ads" that originate from sites other than the one you are visiting that I don't want to see.

    Steven,

+1 for uBlock. I use it with Pale Moon since I became disillusioned w/FF for various reasons. I've been extremely happy w/Pale Moon. HTH

I've been running AdBlock Plus on IE11 since May 2015. No problems, apart from a couple of websites I need to access which don't play well with ABP (I use Firefox for those sites).

I am sure you already know this, but in Ad Block Plus, there is a checkbox that if UNchecked will block ALL ads

Currently poking around to see whether I can accomplish what I want by using only the tools already in Windows 8.1 Pro such as "Pop up Blocker" & "Tracking Protection Lists" & any others I find.
