Prep for Windows 10 -- Problems with 8.1

I'm not sure what's going on with my Dell laptop. It runs as slow as molasses in January (in Minnesota). The display has a few times gone blank or flash all white. For security I have a McAfee suite which came with the system, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium, and Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit Premium. I don't know if these programs are fighting each other, if they allowed something to get by and gum up things, or if it's something else entirely. I don't know where to start with diagnosing the problem(s). Thank you for any help. Happy Holidays! 8-)

You might try running the System Health report using Performance Monitor.

In the Search box or Command Prompt, enter perfmon /report

It takes a few minutes to complete.

I find a lot of computers getting slowed down by McAfee. I'd suggest uninstalling it to see if it helps.

Vincenzo, do you think Malwarebytes will protect the system sufficiently? Thank you for posting!

If the system has been running fine with McAfee until recently it is probably not McAfee.

Have you run full system scans with McAfee and Malwarebytes?
Have you made changes to the system recently such as adding or updating programs and drivers?
Have you used Task Manager to see if there is something obvious using your system resources?

If you uninstall McAfee Windows Defender should take over. Between Defender and Malwarebytes you should be fine as long as you take care with where you surf.
