Win 10 Upgrade Hangs at 83% (Configuring Settings 35%)

So I'm trying to update my Vaio Laptop from Win 8.1 to Win 10 and it has been holding at 83% for over 10 hours. A quick google search indicates that I should continue to wait (it could take 24 hours?) as files could still be updating. Anyone in the lounge had this problem? Any fixes?

I upgraded the laptop a few days back and it took 4-5 hrs. to go through the whole process, but ten hours is a bit too long.

You could do a hard restart and see where you stand.

I hope you have some sort of recent backup on hand in the event it did go south.

There were reports of the upgrade hanging if there was an SD card inserted.

I was able to reboot and revert back to Win 7. I downloaded the Win 10 ISO and installed from the DVD. It took about 1 hour to finally complete the installation. I did disable my anti-virus (Panda) and installed without installing updates.

On first reboot I got another error "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT". Another google search and I went to the Sony website and downloaded the latest Win 10 drivers and BIOS update and haven't had a problem since.

has several problems and solutions for most of the error codes and messages that occur during the install. It's fairly long so be sure you scroll down to the table that has the error codes and solutions.

Hope this helps anyone else that has problems with their Win 10 installation.
