Win 10 requires access password twice?

I just recently upgraded to Windows 10 on my laptop. Thought I would try it there before committing the desktop to it.

When I sign on to Win 10, it always refuses the first attempt at signing on - it rejects the password - message - You can't sign on to your device right now. Go to account.live.com to fix the problem, or try the last password you used on this device. When I type it in a second time, it works. It does this every time I start up my laptop and I want to know how I fix this as it is a nuisance? Any insight that anyone would care to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

holdum333, thanks for the link. It may prove useful in a different situation, but it doesn't solve the "problem" I have now, at least not so that a solution is obvious.

Your welcome! I never use a password. I was thinking you could use the information to change your password and see it that would help. What's happening to you isn't right, but I'm afraid I'm not smart enough to help you.
I'm sure someone here has a solution for you!

No problem - I am hoping someone will have some insight as to why this is happening.

Are you trying to sign in using a Microsoft account or a local account?
Create a fresh drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

I believe that it is a Microsoft Account password, as it is the same for both my laptop (Win 10) and my desktop which is still running under Win 8.1.
