    Notes on the release...

December 29, 2015: GWX Control Panel version 1.7 is now live. It is packed with new features and usability improvements which you can learn about at the brand-new version 1.7 user guide. The "GWX Control Panel Release Notes" section of this post contains a detailed list of all new features and improvements as well. If you're reading this it means I haven't updated the user manual portion of this post yet, so please refer to the release notes and the version 1.7 user guide while I get around to updating the rest of the supporting documentation.

I copied this from the Window 10 forum as it is more appropriate for Windows 8 than Windows 10.

I've been using the GWX Control Panel for some time, but I find the NEW and improved version much more user friendly.
A tutorial or even release notes are not necessary. Everything you need, is right there on the screen. Nothing is hidden!

A BIG Thanks to the author!

    Cheers mates!

    He does accept donations...

Link at the bottom of the downloads page.

On a recent Security Now! podcast Leo Laporte and Steve Gibson gave GWX CP several kudos, but also mentioned that Josh Mayfield averages one donation in a thousand downloads.

That is likely not too bad considering we are so used to freeware.

Just because you don't know where you are going doesn't mean any road will get you there.

Wow! Steve Gibson....now that's a name I've not heard in a long time, even though I use several of his programs on every new PC that I set up, or old PC's that I do a first tune-up on.
Years ago I did pay him $100 for his "Spinrite" program.

I just hope I live long enough to get to meet Steve in person. He's a Computer Guru's GURU!
He's also got a whale of a sense of humor. Like his program called the "Decombobulator".

    Y'all have a great 2016!
