One for the Bucket List perhaps

There also used to be a saying - See Naples and die - but who the hell wants to do that as these days it would probably be from a knife

Things weren't quite that bad back in '60 while in the Navy, spent a weekend liberty there and a month later spent 3 days awaiting transport back to the states to go to Air Traffice Control school.

Hey Berton! USAF 1958-1962 ! 18 months in Okinawa . C130 electrician. I'm to old to travel that far, so I'll just enjoy the Chapel this way. It's amazing that one man created all that in 4 years!

Yes, it is amazing. After school in '60 got assigned to NAS Quonset Point, RI. Got extended 2 months in late '62 by JFK on account of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

I got extended also because of the Cuban Crisis and sent to Okinawa. I was wanting to go over seas, so was OK with me. Was a sad day when they killed my Commander and Chief.

Yes, it was. I was at my first FAA duty station in Montana when it happened.
