I can't find an adequate explanation on the web about how Outlook 365 works. What I'm trying to find out is, will it connect to any email server or just specific ones, and if specific, which ones (seems to me I heard or read just Outlook.com and Hotmail.com)?
Will it connect to Gmail accounts? How about standard email servers like Verizon, even if the settings are different (from the "stock settings" (ports 110, and 25) that most servers use?
thanks from the snow is not yet deep, but by morning it will be, here in DC!Henry S. Winokur

There is no such thing as Outlook 365. If you subscribe to Office 365 Personal or Home, you get installation rights for Office 2016, so what you install on your computer is Outlook 2016. Outlook 2016 allows you to connect to any email servers supporting POP, IMAP or running Exchange, just as you could with Outlook 2013, 2010 and previous versions (previous versions may have required add-ons for certain types of servers).
If you are thinking about other type of Office 365 subscriptions (Business Plans), the same applies, but you also get email account(s) managed by Microsoft, supported by Exchange, most likely.Rui
