    1PW,

As an early purchaser of your competitors product I hope you are taking time to make sure this doesn't cause unintended problems. The competitive product caused all kinds of headaches, for me at least, when trying to Install/Uninstall programs, especially via Revo Uninstaller Pro!. It also interfered with the System Restore Point restoration functions. Here's hoping you have better luck as I'm a big Malwarebytes fan!
May the Forces of good computing be with you!

    Hello RetiredGeek:

The feedback seen on the Malwarebytes forum from MBARW Beta3 forward should be enlightening. The Malwarebytes developers must be constantly thinking about compatibility. It seldom (if ever) is necessary to use mutual exclusions with top quality Anti-Virus applications now. As far as I know, the minor System Restore Point (SRP) issue, regarding MBAM itself, might still need to be resolved.

    https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/177751-introducing-malwarebytes-anti-ransomware/#entry1015814

BTW - Whatever the unnamed competitor's products are, I might be using/supporting them too.

Remember that the best way to look at Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware (MBARW), is to compare it somewhat to Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit (MBAR). MBAR Beta will probably stay in Beta to test the code changes that will eventually make their way into the next full release of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM). After a similar integration, MBARW will not exist separately. Similarly to MBAR, MBARW might become a "visible" MBAM module like the MBAM Self-protection module, Malicious Website Protection module, etc.

Note: One does need to distinguish MBAR's executable code from the quite separate Rootkit Database updates that can be released at anytime of the day. Like Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (MBAE), MBARW does not use a database.

So far I had issues with the .NET Framework update and Seamonkey using the plug-in updater (which I can understand both eliciting anti-ransomware heuristics). Fixed within a day or so of posting. Upgraded to 314 since with no issues.

MBARW v0.9.14.361 BETA5 has been released.

    Announcement: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/177751-introducing-malwarebytes-anti-ransomware/

    Changelog:

    Known Issue:
    • If installing the upgrade on Windows 8.1 x64 over a previous Beta, the service may not start automatically. In this case, simply click Start Protection on the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware dashboard or run the Beta installer a second time.

    Improvements:

    • Adjusted embedded license so that earlier beta versions could be expired and users would be encouraged to move off older versions and onto the latest available beta.

    Issues Fixed:
    • Fixed issue that caused high-CPU and memory usage and resulted in a process crash in certain cases.
    • Fixed issue where the current state of the protection status was not remembered correctly after a reboot.

Unfortunately the third link, MBARW_Setup.exe, is broken. One can find out about this new product by going to the second link, Introducing the Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware Beta.

    Hello csmart4125:

    You are absolutely correct.

The "Introduction" post still has the closest thing to a high integrity, generic link now.

It's probably best if I leave time-limited links out of my posts.

    Thank you csmart4125.

MBARW v0.9.15.416 BETA6 has been released.

    Announcement: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/topic/177751-introducing-malwarebytes-anti-ransomware-beta/?do=findComment&comment=1029466

    • Further refinements to internal rules to reduce potential for false positives
    • Refactored processing to reduce memory consumption and prevent system hangs
    • Added ability to update internal rules dynamically without requiring a full program update so new detections and fixes for false positives can be deployed much more rapidly
    • Changed log collection to happen asynchronously

    Issues Fixed:
    • Notification that a new version is available no longer auto-dismisses
    • Fixed issue where an Exclusion may not have been honored properly in some cases
    • Fixed issue where the protection status was not remembered correctly after a program update
