    Recommend webspace hosting company?

    Hi,

My current web space company appears to be down for some reason.
Can anyone recommend a good FREE web space hosting company.
I already have a domain name.

    Criteria:
    Free to use
    No adds, banners or advertising
    Min 10 Meg space.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

    Regards
    Justin

Perhaps your ISP provides free hosting along with your internet service. That's about the only free hosting you are going to find which doesn't have any ads, etc.

Web Hosting Talk is probably the best place to ask such a question.

Very likely a loss leader, they make money from premium services which enough [they hope] of their users will eventually buy.

Alternatively, it's a start-up acquiring enough users so that they'll still have a profitable business when they drop the free offer in the future.

Alternative 2, they have other paid-for services which they hope a happy free hoster will buy in time. Small free hosting could be a cheap way of generating targeted leads.

Alternative 3, the 'extra' emails will start arriving soon...

ETA Just saw on a quick search:
" the freeservers usually try to make money to pay for your free web hosting service in another manner, such as requiring forum posting or uploading through an online file manager or web hosting control panel in which you (the webmaster) see ads."

Freeola provide free hosting provided you can upload to their sevrer with a dial up modem. Might sound old hat but it is free and no ads
