Outlook 2016: Emails in inbox past archive date

I have a new Win10 PC and Outlook 2016, IMAP. I have set my autoarchiving to 5 days, but I see email messages in my inbox that are 8 days old. Why is Outlook not removing older emails to the archive folder?

Autoarchive uses the change data of an email not the received date. Almost anything appears to update the change date.

Joe: Thanks for responding. I don't understand what you're telling me. Are you saying that the autoarchive doesn't work as expected?

Is there a way to select the date Outlook uses to archive?

Autoarchive is most likely working as designed. See if Outlook 2016 Auto Archive - How to ignore "modified" date helps.

Joe: The reference page is about an imported data file, not my situation, but maybe the soln will help, but a registry hack? What is microsoft thinking? Anyway I've not modified any of these old emails, but there's no way to tell is there? Wow. I'm just surprised. I'll try this and see.
