    Office 365/2016 apps crash

    Windows Secrets Forum:

I have a new and very annoying problem with Office 365. Looking to this group for any ideas... and yes, I've done a complete new clean install.

In any 2016 app, if I click on File > Open, the app crashes and I receive the attached error screen and I am forced to close the app.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Is this an MSI or click-to-run install?

What version of Windows? Is it up-to-date with patches?

Have you checked the system event logs for more details?

Sure seems like a corrupt Office install. Have you tried to repair the Office installation?

OK, I completely removed Office 365 (again). I then downloaded a new version of the Office 365 64x file. Reinstalled and now seems to ne working.

    Thanks for help. Ben

Why did you install 64-bit Office? Many Office addins still have not been upgraded to work with 64-bit. 32-bit Office works in most circumstances unless you have very, very large spreadsheets.

    Cool Moving forward

Interesting!. The only thing I did different from the last 2 installs, was try the 64 bit version. Any chance the 32 on my 64 x machine would cause a conflict??

Really wish I knew what caused the conflict, but it works now... so jut moving forward.

    Thx again.

No. The 32-bit version runs fine on a 64-bit OS. That is what I and most others use. Glad the last install worked. Thanks for posting back.
