The IE shell icon is selective in when it works [Insider Preview]

The topic of restoring a "real" IE icon has been discussed before certainly. But this latest event after my upgrade this evening to Version 1511 Build 14271.1000 has added a new twist.

I can restore the icon to three of four profiles on my machine -- the Admin, the Guest (Visitor), and my Microsoft Insider account. The one that the icon will not appear for is my "general" profile. All except the Visitor have admin privileges. Running the reg entry below produces the icon on the desktop of the first three profiles, but not the last.

Why would that be? Might it be a corrupted profile? I just created a new profile, and the reg entry worked for that profile too, so it has to be the profile that is the problem. Is there an "easy" way, after creating a new profile, to move all the "stuff" from the first damaged profile to the new one?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

Not exactly, Joe, no iti isn't. The first addressed the creation of the desktop icon. The second was because while the first profile didn't work, the second did, so it is a profile issue as to how I can transport data and structure from one profile to the second.

Try this. Create a new user. Start File Explorer. Right click on "This PC", select Properties. In the Left pane click on "Advanced system settings". Click the Advanced tab and then the "Settings" button in the User Profile section. Select the user to copy from, click the "Copy To" button, follow the prompts.

I just did try it: I created a new user, logged into that user, logged out, logged in as Administrator, went to PC / Properties / Advanced system Settings / Advanced tab / and then the Settings button. The copy from was greyed out, and the size of the profile was showing as a "?" -- and this is the profile I am always using.
