Oh no! The VB stopped functioning in my database! (O2K, SR-1)

I made some changes to the VB code for a form I was working on. I don't know what I did, or if it just corrupted on me, but now anytime VB is called anywhere in my database, I get the error "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost". Even when I initially open the database that error pops up twice and then the system switches me over the the VBA window. Any ideas?
THANKS!

Did you, by any chance, install any of the Office XP components on your Machine, including Visio 2002 or Publisher 2002? There's a bug in Access 2000 (although how they can say that when the later version is what breaks it escapes me) when it interacts with the version of the VBE that installs with 2002. There's supposed to be a hotpatch coming out any day, but it hasn't been publicly announced yet that I've heard of. Here's a link to the MSKB article on it.

That's probably it; I did have Office XP installed on my PC for a while as a test. I've requested a copy of the file from our backup tapes. Do you think I can do what the article suggests (compile the database from the VB Editor before closing the database) and avoid this issue, even though my scenario isn't exactly the same?

It's worth a try, but unless you rename the VBE6.dll and reinstall Office 2000. it's likely to crop up again. My Access 2000 hasn't been the same since I installed and then uninstalled Access XP ... in spite of reinstalling Office 2k without taking that extra step.

OK, so what if I re-install Access 2002 and do my development for the database from there?

That's what Microsoft recommends. Of course, that means you can't see how the database will behave in Access 2000 ....

Charlotte,
Is there a good way to find out when (if?) they do put out a hotpatch for this issue, as soon as it's available?
Thanks,
Angela

Keep watching the Office Update site and keep an eye posted here in the Lounge. I'm supposed to be notified once the thing is available to the public and I'll let everyone know. They made a download available to those of us who had screamed the loudest, although I haven't been willing to test it just yet, so ing at them might help as well. Try going to on-line support and posting a message there.
