# Thread: Rounding to 0.05 (97+)

1. ## Rounding to 0.05 (97+)

Does anyone have a formula for rounding down to 0.05? We ain't got no pennys in Switzerland!

2. ## Re: Rounding to 0.05 (97+)

With your value in A1, to round DOWN use <pre> =ROUNDDOWN(\$A1/0.05,0)*0.05</pre>

or just to round to the nearest use<pre> =ROUND(\$A1/0.05,0)*0.05</pre>

.. or =FLOOR(cell,0.05)

4. ## Re: Rounding to 0.05 (97+)

There's also an MROUND function in the Analysis Toolpak:
Returns a number rounded (not rounded down) to the desired multiple.

From HELP=====
Syntax
MROUND(number,multiple)
---Number is the value to round.
---Multiple is the multiple to which you want to round number.

Remarks
MROUND rounds up, away from zero, if the remainder of dividing number by multiple is greater than or equal to half the value of multiple.

Examples
MROUND(10, 3) equals 9
MROUND(-10, -3) equals -9
MROUND(1.3, 0.2) equals 1.4
MROUND(5, -2) equals #NUM!
====

So this is truly a rounding function, similar to the other replies but w/o all the work on your part. If you truly want to rounddown, the other answers are just as good as this (which could be made to just rounddown).
