Office 2003 problem with Windows 10

I have recently installed Windows 10 and tried to copy/paste part of a web page into Word 2003, as I have done many times in Windows 7. When I tried to paste there was a "flash" and the screen reverted to the web page. My browser is Chrome but the effect was the same in Internet Explorer. I managed to copy/paste to Notepad and then copied to Word 2003, but of course lost the graphics which in this case was not a problem. Subsequently I tried copy/paste into Libre Office and that worked fine. Is this a known Windows 10/Office 2003 problem and is there a fix available, also, are there any other known problems with that combination. I can change from MS Office 2003 to Libre Office, but I prefer the former.

Have you tried repairing the Office 2003 installation (via Help|Detect & Repair) in any Office application?

Do note that, according to Microsoft, Office 2003 (which is no longer supported) is not compatible with Windows 10.

I have run the detect/repair but to no avail. I will continue to use 2003 but use Libre when I want to make part of a web page into a document file. I had not realised that 2003 was considered not to be compatible with 10

In testing for a Client I have installed Office 2000 on my Insider computer. I opened a Microsoft page [about the Insider program], Selected 2/3rds of the page and Copied. Then I Pasted that into Word 2000 and got everything, no problem, at least for the basics but don't know how more-advanced features will work.

How did you do the paste? CTRL+V or with a Word context menu option?

I just checked on my Windows 10 computer. Pasting from a web page into Word 2003 causes it to crash. I used Ctrl+V and Edit>Paste.

When I started Word in Safe mode, it pasted fine using Ctrl+V.

I then tried with no Add-Ins and it still pasted fine.

The only Add-In I can imagine causing the problem is Adobe Acrobat. I've forgotten how to disable a .COM add-in within Word.

Right-click and Paste in a blank document.

I use Word 2003 in Win 10 without problems. I use Word 2010 for most of my work, though.

Mike21: Do you have FireFox installed? A recent FireFox update apparently broke some aspect of the Windows clipboard, meaning only unformatted text can be pasted. If you do have FireFox installed, you might need to uninstall it & use a different browser, undo the most recent FireFox update or wait till the next update comes out.
